Barrow

Situated on a low rise of ground in undulating countryside with limited views in all directions. An aerial photograph (CUCAP, ATC 73) shows the faint outline of a mound with an internal fosse and an external bank. This is probably the site of a ring-barrow. Not visible at ground level. A Neolithic ring-barrow with an internal fosse and external bank, dating to approximately 3000–2500 BCE. It represents an early form of burial monument and is significant for its defensive or ritual features, which are rare in Irish Neolithic contexts.
