Freestanding sandstone arch, dated 1863, comprising dressed sandstone walls with roughly dressed cappings and plaque inscribed: "AD/1863". Segmental-headed arch with roughly dressed sandstone voussoirs and carved impost course. Flanking round-headed niches to arch. Set back from the road.

This robust archway employs the triumphal arch motif, with its processional associations, and here it is recreated it in a rustic style. The composition is representative of the craftsmanship of the mid nineteenth century. The gateway forms a grand and imposing entrance to the Ballynahaha House estate: the eponymous house no longer survives.
