Weir in Templeogue is out of work but still sends the Dodder down three curved granite tiers beneath a bridge. That’s a retired showman for you: no bookings, no audience, still coming down the stairs like someone’s announced him.
Three stage weir on River Dodder, c.1800, built of large granite kerb stones on slight arc. Each tier approximately 4 metres long with an overall drop of 4 metres.
This weir, in a secluded location below a bridge, is a particularly well built example, incorporating squared stone blocks to form a graceful arc. Visually enhances the area despite now being obsolete.
