Cast-iron water pump, erected c.1870, with angled pumping handle. Fluted neck and cap with pointed finial. Foliate decoration to spout. Set in recess with limestone walls. Now padded to shaft.
This water pump has interesting design details such as the fluting and the foliated motif, which enhance this functional object. Located near a crossroads, is was once a place of social gathering where people went to draw water.
