Cast-iron water pump, c.1900, with horizontal bands to the shaft and a replacement top.
This is an example of a cast-iron water pump at the turn of the nineteenth century. It is less decorative than mid nineteenth century water pumps, with only simple horizontal bands embellishing it. It is located outside of the town on a rural road and is a very noticeable feature on the road as it is the only item of street furniture.
