Water pump in Muff makes you work a handle to get water out of a lion’s mouth. Somewhere between the first sketch and the finished casting, a perfectly sensible village well became a circus audition.

This cast-iron water pump makes a interesting contribution to the streetscape. Artistic detail is employed to enliven this functional object. The deeply fluted casting provides artistic detail and is further enlivened by the lion's head mask.
