What is recorded here
Nobber Bridge had four arches carrying the road when a pipe arrived needing stone supports of its own. Every family knows that guest: only staying the night, but would you mind building an extension?
Four-arch road bridge, built c.1830, with roughly dressed rubble limestone walls and ashlar limestone voussoirs. Buttresses added to carry pipe across river.
This bridge is a reminder to the engineering achievements of engineers and the quality of local craftsmanship in the early nineteenth century. It is of solid rubble limestone construction, with finely executed ashlar voussoirs.
