Water pump in Crossakeel has retired from supplying water but still takes pride of place on the village green. That’s the retirement to aim for: stop doing the one thing you were hired for and have the grounds landscaped around you.
Cast-iron water pump, c.1870, with curved handle and acorn finial.
This well designed cast-iron water pump retains its gracefully curved pumping arm and acorn finial. Although it is now ornamental rather than functional, it remains the focal point of the landscaped village green.
