What is recorded here
Freestanding cast-iron vent pipe, erected c.1880, comprising moulded base with cast-iron service door, lettering and banding, supporting plain shaft with cast-iron cowling.
A fine road side feature that is an excellent example of late nineteenth century mass produced cast-iron street furniture. The casting process allowed simple artistic details to be incorporated into the design of functional street features.
