Historic building in Sheafield North is a stretch of river with a carefully laid stone floor. Whoever paved it had standards fierce enough to stop a trout at the boundary and ask whether it intended coming in with those feet.
Section of formalised (canalised) river, established 1850, with random rubble limestone retaining walls having cut-limestone flagged decking.
Exhibiting good quality stone masonry with particular emphasis on the flagging to the river bed a section of formalised (canalised) river makes a pleasing, if subtle visual impression in a rural setting.
