Tullynally Castle is a castle in County Westmeath where the Pakenhams have lived for more than three centuries. Francis Johnston gave the house its gothic towers and battlements in 1803, and later generations enlarged it until it became a large castellated residence beside Lough Derravaragh. The name may echo the Children of Lir, turning the house into a place where memory, myth and domestic life still share the same hill.
