Trantstown Bridge

Double-arch rubble stone bridge, built c. 1800, carrying road over tributary of Butlerstown River. Vertical copings to parapet. Round-headed arches with cut stone voussoirs. Single-span bridge to south with metal railings forming parapet walls, concrete span, rubble stone approach walls and cut stone piers with concrete caps.

Pair of bridges creating a pleasing contrast to each other - one with the older technology of the arch expressed in textured native stone, the other with the 20th century technology of tensile metal used to bridge the gap over the small river below.
