Tomb

17th century chest-tomb (dims. 0.9m H x 2.27m L x 1.02m Wth x 0.17m T) marking the grave of the Nugent family standing in SE corner of Clonlost Church (WM020-038----). The lid of the tomb bears the Nugent coat of arms along with an inscription and a memento mori with skull and cross bones and coffin at base of lid. The inscription reads as following; 'THIS MONUMENT IS ERECTED BY THOMAS NUGENT OF CLONLOST ESQR FOR THE INTERINGE OF HIMSELF AND ISMAY NUGENT HIS WIFE DAUGHTER UNTO THEOBALD NUGENT OF NEWHAGGARD IN THE COUNTY OF MEATH ESQR AND OF THE AFORSD THOMAS NUGENTS FAMILY ANO DOMINI 1672' Compiled by: Caimin O'Brien Date of upload: 11 June 2019
