Toberfelim is traditionally associated with Saint Fillan (Felim), a 7th-century Irish monk and missionary. The well is believed to have curative properties, particularly for eye ailments, and was historically visited on Saint Felim's feast day, 29 September, with rituals involving the collection of the first water of the morning.
