Detached five-bay single-storey former school, built c.1820, with porch to front (north-west) and recent flat-roofed extensions to rear (south-east). Later also in use as post office, and later in use as RIC barracks. Now in use as private house. Hipped slate roof with overhanging dressed limestone eaves, rendered chimneystack, cast-iron rainwater goods and recent rooflights. Roughly dressed rubble stone walls with roughcast rendered walls to porch having cut limestone stringcourse below gable. Square-headed window openings with tooled limestone sills throughout, having dressed stone voussoirs and quarry-glazed timber casement windows. Square-headed door opening to porch, having recent timber casement window. Square-headed door opening to side (south-west) elevation, having glazed timber door. Set within own grounds having recent rubble stone square-profile gate piers to front of site.

A notable building which once played an important social role in the community, functioning as a school, post office and later as an RIC barracks.
