Canal lock on Ulster Canal, built c.1840. Dry and no longer in use. Coursed dressed limestone walls with tooled stone copings and lock gate emplacements visible to each end. Cast-iron ground sluice winding-gear frame to top north-west emplacement. Wrought-iron gate collars to each emplacement. Unoccupied lock keeper's house to north-east.

Although no longer in use, this former lock is an interesting and attractive reminder of the Ulster Canal, which was intended to aid industry and the development of the economy in the area through providing a means of transport for passengers and bulk produce. Constructed of squared limestone and retaining some cast and wrought-iron parts, it is of technical as well as social interest, and provides contextual interest to the adjacent lock keeper's house.
