Templesaghtmacree

To E of R.C. church at centre of Inis Meáin. Known locally as Teampall na Seacht Mac Rí, this rectangular church (E-W; L 10.85m, Wth 4.95m), a National Monument, is much rebuilt. There are remains of a doorway and window in S wall and evidence of an internal division, but otherwise featureless. Immediately to S is Leaba Chinndeirge (GA119-081002-), a rectangular drystone structure (L 3.04m, Wth 1.66m, H 0.8m) with a cross (GA119-081003-) at its E end (Higgins 1987, vol. 2, 325, no. 51). To SW is a holy well (GA119-082----). Templesaghtmacree, Ceathrú An Lisín is a small rectangular church on Inis Meáin, built in the early medieval period, likely between the 10th and 12th centuries. It is dedicated to St. Lisín and reflects a typical early Christian church style, with remnants of a doorway and window; its dedication and location suggest it was an important local place of worship in the medieval Diocese of Clonfert.
