What is recorded here
Detached two-bay single-storey former gate lodge to Talbotstown House, built c.1840. The gate lodge is L-shaped in plan with painted roughcast walls and a slated hipped roof with large overhang supported on timber brackets, and rendered chimneystacks. The entrance consists of a timber door and the flat-headed windows have replacement top-hung timber frames. Cast-iron rainwater goods. The gate lodge is set next to a roadside but is separated from the road by a garden enclosed by a tall rendered wall.
Delightfully unpretentious gate lodge of the early to mid 1800s, which, replacement window frames notwithstanding, is still in largely original condition.
This does not grant access. Most recorded buildings are privately owned; view them only from public ground unless the owner allows entry.
