Structure

An irregular deposit (L 0.67m min.; Wth 0.99m; D 0.1m min.) of eight pieces of brushwood, a peg and some twigs. The brushwood (diam. 0.013-0.032m) forms two groups at the N and S end of the exposure. The peg is located in the S group and a worked end is visible in the N group. The wood is in moderate condition and mainly set in moderately humified Sphagnum peat with Eriophorum. Further pieces of brushwood are present in the vicinity. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 2001. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
