Lousy Castle Island holds two long dry stone walls near its cliff edges, watching the sea beside Whiddy Island. Tony Miller saw them from a kayak in 2012 and wondered whether they blocked a landing place or belonged to the nearby guns. The small island keeps that much more hidden because the tide and distance still stop a person from walking across its narrow skin.

This monument was brought to the attention of ASI by the archaeologist Tony Miller on 25th June 2012. the following is his description of the monument: "Lousy Castle Island is just off the south-west coast of Whiddy Island and is overlooked by the westernmost battery. Whilst kayaking past the island I noted that there are dry stone walls built along both the northern and southern sides of this very small island, immediately along the edge of the sea cliffs. Both walls extend for over 10-15m and are at least 1m in height. I was unable to land on the island and take a closer look due to tide and weather conditions. There might be a possibility that these walls are defensive ones of some sort considering the name of the island, maybe connected with the batteries on Whiddy Island. It could have covered any attempt to land on the large bay immediately north of the island."
