Shronebeha lost its grey stone because people believed treasure lay buried beneath it. They broke Cloughlea and removed the fragments, turning mystery into greed and erasing the marker completely. The land kept the secret while human hands destroyed the witness.

Bowman (1934, 228) recorded standing stone on T. Kiely's land; 'It was said that treasure was buried under this stone; the stone was broken and removed'. According to Grove White (1905-25 vol. 2, 220), 'a large stone called "Cloughlea" or the "grey stone"'. Exact location not known.
