Holy well in Pulleen, County Cork, Ireland. Bowman (1934, 45) recorded holy well in T. Guiney's; 'Rounds have long since been discontinued. The well is enclosed by a circular fence. Two trees of mountain ash grew by the well. One of these has now decayed. It was customary for visitants to the well to take away some of the bark of the trees, as a preventative against toothache - the bark being rubbed to the sore tooth or gum.' Exact location not known. Linked to an unnamed saint or local tradition, the holy well in Pulleen was once associated with healing practices and ritual rounds, which were discontinued by the early 20th century. The site was marked by a circular enclosure and two mountain ash trees, one of which has since decayed.
