Standing stone

What is recorded here

One of two stones stood on a ridge in Booladurragha North, commanding every direction until removal near 1965. The 1935 map still marks the place, but the stones themselves vanished with nearby ones. Whatever they witnessed is gone, leaving only the ridge and the memory of their presence.
One of two stones including (CO046-035002-) shown on 1935 OS 6-inch map. On top of a ridge with commanding view in every direction. Stones removed c. 1965, along with others nearby. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
