Longueville House

Detached five-bay two-storey vernacular farmhouse, built c. 1820, currently under renovation and being extended to rear. Pitched slate roof, having some cast-iron rainwater goods, and rendered chimneystacks. Random rubble sandstone walls. Square-headed openings having remains of two-over-two pane timber sliding sash windows with limestone sills. Square-headed door opening having double-leaf timber panelled door. Partly rendered stone boundary wall and piers to site. Multiple-bay single-storey L-shaped outbuilding to north-west having pitched roof, currently being reslated, and random rubble sandstone walls, square-headed door and openings, retaining one six-over-six pane timber sliding sash window. Multiple-bay two-storey outbuilding further to north-west, with single-storey addition to north, pitched roof lacking covering and timbering, and having rendered random rubble sandstone walls. Square-headed window and door openings, with blocked sandstone archway to centre of front elevation. Limestone steps to first floor. Two-storey outbuilding with pitched slate roof, remains of timber casement windows and segmental-headed carriage arch opening, with single-storey corrugated-iron roof extension, to east of house.

This group of farmhouse and outbuildings have been traditionally arranged around three sides of a courtyard to form an interesting complex. The survival of many interesting features and materials, such as the integral carriage arches, slate roofs and limestone sills, enhance the architectural significance of the group.
