Dedicated to St. Catherine, a Christian martyr venerated in medieval Europe, the well was likely associated with healing traditions and pilgrimage. The site's original steps and field ditch suggest it was a focal point for local worship or ritual before its physical features were altered.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
