What is recorded here

St. Catherine's Well in the parish of Rathcoole, is located along a field ditch which has been widened and deepened, removing all apparent trace of well. Originally accessed from steps. Dedicated to St. Catherine (Ó Danachair 1958, 82). Compiled by: Geraldine Stout Revised by: Caimin O'Brien Date of revised upload: 20 April 2023
Dedicated to St. Catherine, a Christian martyr venerated in medieval Europe, the well was likely associated with healing traditions and pilgrimage. The site's original steps and field ditch suggest it was a focal point for local worship or ritual before its physical features were altered.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
