Site of Church

Situated at the crest of a steep E-facing slope of the Slaney valley with the N-S river c. 240m to the E. This is probably the site of the parish church of St John's within a rectangular and neglected graveyard (dims. c. 90m N-S; 15-30m E-W) defined by masonry walls. John O'Donovan writing c. 1840 (O'Flanagan 1933. vol. 2, 255) records the foundations of church (L c. 9m; Wth c. 7m) known as Carrig church which have since disappeared.
