What is recorded here
On the E half of a small tree-covered island adjacent to the W shore of Lough Derg. Indicated by the symbol for ‘site of’ on the 1948 edition of the OS 6-inch map and named ‘Castle (Site of)’. On inspection the whole island was checked but no visible surface traces of the castle survived. Loose piles of unmortared limestone rocks noted in the E half appeared to be the result of clearance.
