Bell Tree

Associated with Dooros burial ground (GA132-013001-). Named 'Bell Tree' on the 1838 edition of the OS 6-inch map. According to the OS Letters (O’Flanagan 1927, Vol. 2, 515), the name 'originated in a tradition among the people, who say that a bell used to be heard every seven years ringing in it’. Not precisely located. Four trees are shown along the line of the enclosing wall of the graveyard on the 1838 map but it is unclear to which tree the name applies.
