Holy well in Boleynanollag

In level grassland. Named 'Well' in Roman script on the OS 1:2500 plan (surveyed 1912-16), this spring well, dedicated to St Anne, consists of a pear-shaped well surround delimited by a stream to the N and rock outcrop to the S. The circular well chamber (diam. 1m) is enclosed by a mortared stone wall. Access is via three steps at W. There is a large modern beehive-shaped stone grotto containing a statue of St Anne immediately to its E. The well is still used as a place of devotion. A children's burial ground (GA132-036----) lies c. 8m to the E. This record was incorrectly numbered GA132-027001- in the RMP (1997).
