Unlocated village within the townland of Aughans mentioned in the OS Letters by John O'Donovan (1933, vol. 2, p. 42). O'Doyne manuscript dated 9th May 1608, mentions '20 acres of arable land and five acres of pasture in the hamlets and fields of Achanine' (O'Flanagan 1933, vol. 2, p. 42).
