What is recorded here
Thatched houses are recorded on the terrier of the Down Survey map of Kilburne parish (1655-6) at Towergare. According to Power (1952, 364) a place called an Seana Shráid, or the old street, at Towergare could be interpreted as a village. A field is locally known as an Seana Shráid, but it has been broken into several others and there is no evidence of an antiquity.
