According to the Civil Survey (1654-6) in 'Knockanglass', which was under the proprietorship of ‘Edmond Kearney of Knockanglass Gent. Irish Papist’ in 1640, 'Upon these lands are some few inclosures with quicksetts about, one old thatcht house, with some Ash trees about ye Village' (Simington 1931, vol. 1, 103). This settlement is unlocated within the townland of Knockanglass.
