Freestanding gable-fronted Roman Catholic church, built 1871, with breakfront to west and recent extensions (east and west). Comprising six-bay nave and single-bay single-storey sacristy (west). Pitched slate roofs with rendered chimneystack, gabled cross finial (east) and cast-iron rainwater goods. Painted smooth rendered and pebbledashed walls with plat band and round-headed holy water font. Round-headed openings with two-over-two timber sliding sash windows and stained glass windows, having dressed limestone and concrete sills. Round-headed openings with single and double-leaf panelled doors. Freestanding altar to west and balcony to east of interior. Enclosed by smooth and roughcast rendered boundary walls and cast-iron gates.
Séipéal Cúil Aodha [Coolea Catholic Church] is an eye-catching structure holding a prominent position by the side of the road in Cúil Aodha [Coolea]. It demonstrates a continuity of use since 1871. It retains historic features which add artistic interest, such as stained glass windows and dressed limestone sills.
