O Herlihy castle vanished into Cúil An Mhothair pasture, leaving only loose stones scattered across the north side of the farmyard laneway. The ground still holds the shape of a forgotten home, waiting for boots to brush the mud from its hidden walls.

In pasture; area on N side of laneway into farmyard, much strewn with loose stones, reputedly site of O Herlihy castle (Healy 1988, 47), of which there is no other visible surface trace. Built by the O'Herlihy family, likely in the medieval period, this site is remembered as a local stronghold associated with a prominent Gaelic lineage in the region.
