Detached five-bay two-storey former school, built 1835, with pair of porches to gables. Now in use as house with later extension to rear (west). Pitched slate roofs with rendered chimneystack and cast-iron rainwater goods. Rendered walls with recessed window bands. Square-headed openings with paired two-over-two timber sliding sash windows to front. Pointed-arch openings with eight-over-eight timber sliding sash windows to gables. Concrete sills throughout. Square-headed recessed central door opening with recent timber panelled door, sidelights, and overlight. Recent split concrete block boundary walls and piers and wrought-iron gate to front.

This former school is typical of nineteenth century two-storey structures, with a centrally-located door, symmetrical fenestration and gable-end chimneystacks. As a school, however unusual in its scale and size. The pointed arch windows to the gable ends are indicator of a requirement for a great deal of light, which was necessary for the learning of trades at schools of industry. The pair of porches are interesting reminders of the separate entrance which were provided for girls and boys. Lewis Topographical Directory states 'A school-house capable of containing 600 children, has been lately erected by Mr. Barry, with the aid of the National Board of Education; the boys receive instruction in agriculture and trades from competent teachers, and a model farm and carpenters' workshop are connected with it. The management of the girls' school reflects the highest credit on Miss Adams, the acting patroness, who most benevolently devotes her time to its superintendence: an infants' school has also been established.'
