What is recorded here
Two skulls still protrude from the Ward river bank at Swords, their lower bodies lost to water and time. A fisherman found them in 1990, pulling back only what the river had not taken. The unknown dead may have drowned, hidden or simply slipped away from memory. In that gap between fact and fantasy, the river keeps its own counsel.
In 1990 human remains were discovered by a fisherman in the bank of the Ward river at Swords. There were two skulls protruding from the river bank. Only the upper portion of the bodies were recovered. Not precisely located (NMI, Cahill & Sikora, 473).
