Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Located at the crest of the NE-facing slope of a NW-SE valley. Subcircular grass-covered area (dims. 48m E-W; 45m N-S) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (Wth 5-9m; int. H 0.7-1.7m; ext. H 2.7-3.9m) and an outer flat-bottomed fosse (Wth of top 8.4m-12m; Wth of base 4.1-6.5m; D 0.8-1.6m). The fosse is stone-revetted SW-W where it was possibly re-cut or cleaned out. An outer bank (Wth c. 3m; ext. H 0.5-1m) SE-SW is incorporated into a field bank NE-SE, but is absent elswhere. An entrance through the inner (Wth 2.9m) and outer (Wth 2m) banks is at SE. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Waterford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
