What is recorded here

Indicated is a fairy fort in County Kilkenny where a six-metre earthen bank still surrounds a thirty-eight-metre circle, though scrub and trees have choked the inside. It appeared on the 1839 map as a clean oval, then became irregular by 1900, suggesting that people kept seeing or changing its edges long after it stopped being a ordinary home. The fort is not gone, but it has become hard to read, as if the land took back the shape and kept only the shadow of a boundary.

In reclaimed pasture. Indicated on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map as an oval enclosure (dims. c. 55m N-S; c. 44m E-W) and as a more irregular shape on the 1900-01 revision. A circular area (int. diam. 38m) enclosed by wide earthen bank (Wth 6m; H 1.2-2.5m) with traces of an external fosse at the N and S. The interior is heavily overgrown with scrub and some trees.
