What is recorded here

Mosstown North is a small settlement in County Louth where an old church stood before the modern building. The font at the front door is plain, shallow and worn, but it has watched baptism, marriage and burial for generations. People still gather there to mark life's changes, trusting the stone to hold what words cannot.

The following description is derived from both the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986) and the 'Archaeological Survey of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1991). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 A plain font situated at the front door of the modern church, which is on the site of an earlier church (LH018-026001-). Diam. of base 0.41m, H 0.49m, D of basin 0.2m, diam. of basin 0.45m.
