Enclosure in Middlewalk

Situated on the W-facing slope of the highest hill in the immediate area. Depicted as a roughly circular area surmounted by trees on the 1st ed. (1843) OS 6-inch map and as a hachured enclosure on the 1903 ed. The site has been levelled but is still visible as a slight rise (diam. 39m N-S; 32m E-W) with remains of a bank and a slight outer fosse. The W side had been built-up to provide a level platform (ext. H 0.94m). The site was dismissed as a tree-ring when inspected in the 1960s when it was described as having a 'slight bank and fosse' (OPW file, 1967).
