Fulacht fia in Mangerton

In rough hill pasture, on the SW-facing slope of Mangerton Mountain. A D-shaped mound (straight E side: 6m N-S; 5m E-W; H 0.8m) of burnt material defined on its E side by a N-S depression. Some burnt material is exposed in the depression and there is also a scatter of burnt material immediately E of the depression. The tops of stones, which appear to be part of a relict field wall, are also visible in the depression and the wall can be traced in the bog immediately to the N and S of the depression. A network of relict field boundaries (KE084-045001-) lies 34m to the S. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry.
