Fairy forts in Ireland are often ringforts, ancient defensive or domestic earthworks misread through folklore. In Loumanagh South, one such fort stood beside or beneath a house, its earthen bank reduced but still visible in 1934. The home itself may have grown from the fort’s substance, bricks and joists taking what the field no longer held. What remains is a reminder that ordinary buildings can sit inside older shapes, and that fairy is sometimes only the name people give to what they stopped understanding.

Bowman (1934, 519) records ringfort in D. Sheehan's; 'about half the circuit stands, now c. 4ft. high. Mr Sheehan's house is built on this fort.' Exact location not known. A fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Loumanagh South, likely an early-medieval agricultural or defensive site, with part of its bank still surviving to about 4ft high. The structure was partially incorporated into or overlain by a 19th-century house, as noted by local antiquarian Bowman in 1934.
