What is recorded here

One stone still stands on the southern hill slope in County Donegal, though maps once marked a pair. It rises 1.75m, leans NNE-SSW, and keeps six flat buttressing stones at its base like forgotten knees. The second has vanished into pasture or time, leaving the first to hold the sky alone.

The 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch maps marks two standing stones here but only one is now extant. It is 1.75m high × 1m wide at base × 0.4m thick; E-W. Situated on good pasture land on the S slopes of a hill. Site revisited in 2003 and described as the stone is aligned NNE-SSW. There are at least six large buttressing stones, now lying flat at its base. The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal.
