The holy well marked on the OS 6-inch maps has now been replaced by an ornamental fountain. The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal. Linked to St. Kilgerran (or Killygordon), the well was traditionally associated with healing and pilgrimage, particularly for ailments of the eyes and skin. The saint's name appears in local place-names and is connected to early Christian monastic activity in the region.
