According to the Civil Survey (1654-6) in ‘Ardanvollane', which was under the proprietorship of ‘Sr John Magrath of Allevollane Irish Papist’ in 1640, there 'stands a good stone house in repayre' (Simington 1934, vol. 2, 35). This house is unlocated within the townlands of Ardavullane, Rathkea and Shrough.
