What is recorded here

Excavation in County Kildare appeared on the pipeline route and vanished before proper digging began. Men found a feature the gas line must cross, then destroyed it to keep the project moving. What it recorded, who it belonged to and whether it was sacred, commercial or domestic are all lost. The pipeline carries breath through Kildare still, but the place beneath it stopped answering questions.

Included on SMR (1988) as 'Miscellaneous' and refered to a 'feature' uncovered on the route of the Cork-Dublin Gas Pipeline, but which, according to O'Donnell (1983, 360) was, '… destroyed before excavation was possible'. Compiled by: Gearóid Conroy Date of upload: 17 January 2012
