Five fulachta fiadh still mark the marshy edge where good pasture surrenders to bog. The largest is a shallow eleven-metre disc of burnt material, almost swallowed by grass but heavy with repeated fire. People may have gathered there to heat water, cook food or transform the damp edge into a place of life. The nearby graveyard suggests the site remained familiar long after the flames cooled.
