Fifty yards south of the fort in Garraunawarrig Lower, a hidden fulacht fia still waits beneath the grass. Bowman marked it in 1934, but the exact spot has slipped from human memory. Water may have boiled in that pit during feasts or hunts, sending steam across the Cork landscape while people watched the fog rise. The earth keeps the shape of that heat even when the names and markers have faded.
