Fairy fort / stone ringfort in Tinnahinch

Fairy fort / stone ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy forts are not for us. They belong to the hidden people who still own the land beneath human skin. We may walk past them, but we do not understand them.
Situated on end of small ridge NNW and downslope from ringfort (LA003-012001-), circular area (int. diam. c. 55m N-S) rising towards centre and defined by fosse and remains of external bank at N. Possible causewayed entrance at NNW. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Laois' (Dublin Stationery Office, 1995) compiled by P. David Sweetman, Olive Alcock and Bernie Moran. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 17 December 2007

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
