Twenty-six metres of collapsed stone circle a rocky ridge in Cashel, Donegal, where a lime kiln once heated the air and human hands shaped rough rock into a living boundary. The wall still stands a metre high on the north side but has fallen away at the east end, spilling its stones into the lower ground like a forgotten gesture. Whatever life moved inside that oval, the ridge kept its shape long after the hands left it.

Internal diam. 26m E-W. An oval enclosure delimited by a collapsed stone wall, clearly defined on the S (where natural rock occurs) through to the W and only partly on the N side, where it appears to have fallen down the natural incline. The wall at the E end consists of a very collapsed arc of stones with the external ground at a lower level. There is a pile of large roughly cut stones in the interior at the E end. These are probably connected with the lime kiln marked on the 1st edi-tion of the OS 6-inch map. The interior is fairly level, lower than the external ground to the S but higher else-where. The wall is a maximum of 1m high on the interior at the N end, but only .3m at the E end. It is situated on a natural rocky ridge, orientated E-W overlooking the surrounding rough pasture land.
